The Adam and Eve Story, Part 1
Cyclic Cataclysms: A document, recently declassified by the CIA, tells a horrifyingly interesting story of Earth's tumultuous past.
Truly examining the bits of information we believe to be “factual” can be somewhat unnerving. As time has shown, scientific discoveries tend to operate as fact only temporarily; the discovery of new, conflicting information or evidence that usurps previous understanding seems to be inevitable. We can never truly know what is real, so it seems. The hope, however, is that through constant inquiry and dynamic reconsidering and restructuring of foundational knowledge, we can inch ever closer to discovering the “truth” of this reality.
A core problem in the consideration of what we know to be true lies in the gargantuan age of the Universe. There’s only so much we can conclusively categorize as “fact",” especially when dealing with ancient subjects. The truly unsettling part, though, comes when we apply this principal to our own planet. The story of humanity, and the constant cycle of rise and fall that seems to plague our species, gets murkier as we look deeper into our ancient past.
We’ve all likely heard stories of the “Great Flood.” Various ancient cultures and religions across the globe seemingly all have some account of such a cataclysm happening thousands of years ago. The stories vary greatly from one another, but one thing seems true: such an event must’ve occurred. If not, then what would be the explanation for a shared historical record of such a dramatic event?
A bit of clarity may lie in a mysterious, esoteric short story published in 1965.
Recently, I came across a document titled “The Adam and Eve Story,” on the CIA’s website. Side note - I know what you’re thinking. What does the CIA have to do with Earth’s history, and why would they be publishing this work on their website? Well, more on that later. The main thing to consider is that this work was classified from the date of publication (1965) until recently. Why classify a 45 page short story? The answer likely lies in the story’s content.
While we don’t have much information surrounding the story’s publication - including the Author’s background, field of study, or credentials - we do have a name. “The Adam and Eve Story” was published by an author named Chan Thomas in 1965. A mysterious character shrouded in anonymity, a solid search of the internet reveals only a few details of Thomas’ life - namely, that Thomas was a former employee of the US Air Force in the 1960s. While the potential lack of credibility posed by such an enigmatic author definitely exists, it’s overshadowed by the incredible information contained in the story.
The story, which reads as a prophetic narrative, was inspired by the work of multiple researchers and scientists throughout the past few centuries. Thomas credits Georges Cuvier, a French zoologist sometimes referred to as the “Father of Paleontology",” with first addressing the need for serious inquiry and research into the possibility of Earth being plagued by a cycle of cataclysms stretching back tens of thousands of years. These cataclysms, as the story discusses, have allegedly shaped humanity repeatedly throughout our history - cyclically resetting humans to the Stone Age and erasing all evidence of technological or cultural advancement. Thomas names multiple scientists and researchers who’ve tried to solve the puzzle of whether such a cycle exists, including renown researcher Charles Hapgood. In 1953, Hapgood wrote a book titled “Earth’s Shifting Crust,” wherein he discusses the theory of “Earth Crust Displacement.” The theory essentially states that at certain points in history, the Earth’s crust has experienced incredible turmoil, shifting as if it was detached from its core. Despite such a groundbreaking and unpopular assertion, Hapgood’s theory was legitimate enough to gain a foreword published in “Earth’s Shifting Crust” from none other than Albert Einstein. So before you write this theory off as “pseudoscience,” ask yourself why one of the greatest intellectuals of all time would risk his credibility to attach his name to such a controversial work of scientific theory?
Thomas starts the story off with an enigmatic - yet terrifying - passage:
“Like Noah’s, 6,500 years ago… Like Adam and Eve's, 11,500 years ago… This, too, will come to pass…”
Thomas goes on to give a fictional account of what such a cataclysm may entail. He paints a vividly horrifying picture of thunderous earthquakes roaring beneath the pacific, which propels a “mountain of water two miles high” eastward towards the pacific coast of the United States. The mountain of water, propelled by 1,000 mile per hour winds, erases virtually every sign of life on the West Coast. Los Angeles and San Francisco are buried as if they were mere grains of sand. The ferocious winds shred every living organism into ribbons, further burying the remnants of life under miles of water and mud. The earthquakes, happening virtually all over the world, lead to eruptions of the Earth’s molten layers that cover the ground in a “sea of white-hot liquid fire.” The entire region of what once was known to be the United States of America is now nothing more than legend, buried beneath miles of seawater. Towering mountain ranges, like Pike’s Peak, are the only safe-grounds for hopeful survivors. All across the world, Thomas continues, the cataclysmic beast produces the same fate.
Essentially, the cataclysm being hypothesized in Thomas’ story is brought about by a total pole shift. For whatever reason, at various points in Earth’s history, our geological and magnetic poles suddenly shift. This shift, essentially brings the Earth’s natural pattern of rotation to a screeching halt. The winds and oceans, normally bound to Earth’s natural rotation, do not simply move in stride with such a pole shift. As a result of Earth’s rotation, winds must maintain a relative speed of 1,000 miles per hour. This great speed isn’t normally apparent to the individual, due to the Earth’s rotation, which makes the wind much more bearable. Once the Earth comes to a halt, though, the winds do not do the same. The winds continue to rip across the globe, unimpeded by the spin of the Earth. Incredible amounts of water are propelled eastward, both from the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, inundating any landmass it meets in its path.
The damage is caused not only through this “braking” of the Earth’s rotation; the geographic pole shift brings further destruction. Following such an event, Thomas writes, The Bay of Bengal basin, which is just east of India, is now at the North Pole. The Pacific Ocean, just west of Peru, is now at the South Pole. Greenland and Antarctica are now rotating along Earth’s equator. Expectedly, this leads to the mass melting of ice caps now dissolving under the immense tropical heat. Massive walls of water and ice surge towards the oceans, and in less than 25 years the ice caps are gone. Oceans across the world rise over 200 feet with the newly-released water.
Eventually, new ice caps begin to form in the “new” polar areas. Greenland and Antarctica explode with tropical foliage and plant life. Australia is now solidified as the unexplored continent in the North Temperate Zone, with only a few remaining survivors populating the vast landscape. This hypothetical event, Thomas continues, results in the Earth shifting its 60-mile thick crust, with the poles moving almost to the equator in a fraction of a day. The atmosphere and oceans, stubbornly refusing to change direction with the Earth’s shell, have wiped out almost all life.
A beautiful explanation for this hypothetical phenomenon comes on page 13 of the document:
“In 1/4 to 1/2 of a day the poles move almost to the equator, and all hell lets loose. The atmosphere and oceans don’t shift with the shell - they just keep on rotating West to East - and at the equator that speed is 1,000 mph. It has to be, normally, to make one rotation per day. So, while the shell shifts with the poles going toward the equator, the winds and oceans go east-ward, blowing across the face of the Earth with supersonic speeds, inundating continents with water miles deep.”
Thomas goes on to theorize multiple historical accounts of similar cataclysms, and the timeline to be gained from a compilation of such accounts. From these stories, we’re able to deduce that cataclysms like this do indeed happen. The most recent one, Thomas theorizes, happened 6,500 years ago. We’ve come to know it as “The Great Flood,” discussed in the Bible as well as other ancient texts.
However, we’d be naive to think our planet was fortunate enough to experience only one cataclysm in its great history. Thomas goes on to discuss the possibility of multiple cataclysms, going back tens of thousands of years, that have cyclically wiped the Earth’s surface clean of any sign of advanced life.
According to the chart above, we can determine the various areas that once were effectively the “North Pole,” and the duration of time each area remained as such. 35,000 years ago, Wisconsin was affixed as the North Pole. It remained there until 29,000 years ago, when a cyclic shifting of the Earth’s crust resulted in the Caspian Sea being propelled to the North Pole. 10,500 years later, the North Pole rested atop the Hudson Bay, where it remained for 7,000 years. It then moved atop the Sudan Basin, after yet another cyclic cataclysm wrecked the Earth. The Sudan Basin remained as the site of the North Pole for 5,000 years, until, you guessed it, another cataclysm ruptured the Earth, sending the North Pole to the Arctic Ocean, a much more familiar positioning to modern humans.
Aside from discussions of the immense research conducted by teams of scientists across various fields, Thomas doesn’t mention much hard scientific evidence in support of his theory. However, a tremendous amount of circumstantial evidence lies in various historical accounts, as well as a few mind-blowing pieces of archaeological evidence. To support his theory of cyclic cataclysms, and the immense devastation such cataclysms would surely bring, Thomas offers a multitude of pre-historic findings. In the sake of time, I’ll list the most interesting below. For a more complete showing of each of these findings, I encourage you to check out the story for yourself.
The following are the most interesting (in my humble opinion) pieces of historical evidence for Thomas’ theory:
The Beresovka Mammoth, frozen in mud, with buttercups in his mouth;
https://www.gi.alaska.edu/alaska-science-forum/mystery-mammoth-and-buttercups
The sudden end of the Laurentian Basin ice cap in Canada, about 11,500 years ago;
The sudden end of the Wisconsin ice cap, about 29,000 years ago;
The sudden 200-foot rise of the oceans all over the world 6,000 to 7,000 years ago;
The Piri Reis map; showing the North Pole in the Sudan Basin;
The legends from primitive man in Tierra del Fuego at the southern tip of South America of the day the Sun set in the wrong direction;
The legends from primitive man in Peru of the day the Sun stood still
Aside from the evidence mentioned above, ancient traditions and oral histories, passed down through tribes such as the Hopi people of the American southwest, speak of a time long ago when such a cataclysm wreaked havoc on the Earth’s surface. The Dogon tribe of West Africa, who somehow knew of the star Siruius-B (which is invisible to the naked eye) hundreds of years prior to the creation of modern telescopes, share a similar story of devastating cataclysms stretching far back into the distant past.
The overwhelming amount of albeit circumstantial evidence, combined with hard data of geographical shifting of Earth’s poles, weaves a dramatic and concerning reading of Earth’s tumultuous past. The tendency to discount such a theory is obvious; if cataclysms like the one discussed in “The Adam and Eve Story” do in fact happen cyclically, how long do we have until we must face our untimely destiny? I’ve never been pessimistic, but the reality seems inescapable. It’s only a matter of time. Hopefully, for humanity’s sake, we’re able to better orient our species to effectively deal with, or at least adapt to, such an earth-shattering event.
Although, I can confidently state, the CIA doesn’t seem to share my optimism. Why else would they choose to classify such a controversial piece of work for over 50 years? Why classify something that has no basis in scientific fact? It seems we have much more to learn regarding this entire phenomenon. Hopefully, we’re able to make tremendous strides before our poles decide to take a semi-permanent vacation across the globe.
Last but not least: if you’re skeptical of any of this, you’re not alone. Do me a favor, though, and check out how rapidly Earth’s poles have been moving over the last 20 years.
P.S., Part 2 of my analysis on “The Adam and Eve Story,” which will focus on the interpreting of various ancient accounts of these cataclysms, will be coming soon. Stay tuned to get a full grasp of the mind-blowing discoveries that follow!
